A short recap...

Well, it's been a month since I posted anything so it's time for a little recap.  Let's see what's been happening in my neck of the woods as of late...

I went out for pizza and bowling with a great group of girls that I LOVE!  I can't wait to go to the beach with these girls in April.  It will be Kimberly's 29th birthday and I am sure we are going to have the best time, like we always do.

Please don't be intimidated.  Not just anybody can score a 52 through 9 frames of bowling.

A few days later was the NFC Championship game.  To say I was nervous would be an understatement.  To say tensions were high between my brother and I just wouldn't even do it justice.  We even pitted our niece and nephew against each other.  All I've got to say is that I'm so glad little Ema picked a good team.  Every time I saw her I would say "Who's gonna win the game, Ema?"  She would respond "The PATTERS!"  It nearly brought a tear to my eye.

Pretty soon a tickle war ensued.  It got pretty fierce.

Thankfully we ended up being victorious!  And I ended up spending the next two weeks reading every article I could and watching more Sports Center than any girl should ever admit to.

I did not take a single picture during the game or the Super Bowl for that matter.  I was too busy screaming, then being elated then having a mild heart attack.  We had a small little party at my parent's house and I ended the night dancing all around the living room in excitement.  I have lived in Packers attire for the past couple of weeks.

Over the last few weeks I of course have been in school and having fun with my friends.

We call this Amish Gothic.  Instant classic!

In Lieu of Sleep...

...I give you a list.  Cause I love lists!

1.  I've really been meaning to blog for the last few days but have just been so busy.

2.  Well, not really.  The last couple days have seen me both dust the ceiling fan in my bedroom and take a few hours nap in the middle of the day.  So yeah, busy really isn't the word that you would use to describe it.

3.  I am in LOVE with this semester at school.  Maybe I'll be singing a different tune in a few weeks, but so far, you know, four days, it has just been so much fun.  My instructor seems to really be a sweet woman who cares about us and really wants us to learn and feel good and confident about it as we do.

4.  Tomorrow is Thursday!  Yay!  Personally I believe that Thursday is the best day EVER!  Thursday is payday for me AND I don't have school on Friday nights (thanks goodness!) so Thursday is my Friday at school.  Which makes today my Thursday.

5.  That sounded an awful lot like "In a good shoe I wear a six, but a seven feels so good, I buy an eight."  Name that movie.

6.  ...or..."I'm fine!  I can jog to Texas and back!  But my daughter can't!  She never could!"

7.  ...OR...My personal favoirte.  "Miss Truvy, I promise that my personal tragedy will not interfere with my ability to do good hair."

8.  Other favorite movies of mine include Donnie Darko, Nicholas Nickelby and Legends of the Fall.

9.  Oh, Brad Pitt.  You will forever be Tristan Ludlow to me.

10.  Today I teased my hair to perfection and have felt so good about myself all day long.  Isn't it funny how one little thing like that can bring you so much joy.

11.  If I see that Jennifer Hudson Weight Watchers commercial one more time and then find myself singing that song, I am going to scream and then eat cheesecake just for spite.

12.  Ok, again, not really.  I actually started Weight Watchers a week ago and although I haven't weighed myself to see my progress I am proud of myself and the progress I've made even if there is no physical difference yet.

13.  That wonderful bedazzled rolling cart is one of the best things ever.  So much better than lugging around a huge duffle bag.  I just wheel it through the parking lot and I'm good to go.

14.  Tonight during our dinner break my friend Ashli told us the most hillarious story.  I laughed so hard that I started crying and ended up looking like Alice Cooper.  I love those girls!

That's all for now.  I just racked my brain for movie quotes which is about the extent of my brain power this close to midnight.

I hope everyone has a great day. xo

The Weekend That Was

Friday's activities which were including but not limited to going to the mall with my Mom, lunch with Mom and Kaylee and getting all wrapped up in an adventure to get my Vera Bradley Student Agenda.  Three stores and half a tank of gas later, I'm still agenda-less.  In the last store we went to the sales lady said "Well...we had those at the beginning of the year, it's too late for you to get one now."  To which I replied "Lady, it's JANUARY!"  So I guess I'm going to be ordering it online and forking over the $8 of shipping and handling.  But Vera's worth it.

Friday night since my dad, uncle, brother and bro in-law took a weekend trip to the beach, Momma, Bri, Kimberly, Kaylee and I had a sleep over and watched a movie accompanied with sweet tea and Bar-B-Q pizza.  If you don't live in NC and have never had Bar-B-Q pizza, oy, my heart breaks for you.

Saturday morning Kimberly and I headed to church super early for our Church Clean-Up Day!  We got so much done and I was SO proud of us.  Our Sunday School class has never looked better!  We moved tons of furniture, including an old, heavy piano out of our class, then we made ourselves busy cleaning out and cleaning up.

When I got home that afternoon I jumped in and stared cleaning my closet.  Later in the afternoon my aunt and uncle came by.  We had such a good time talking and just laughing.  Truth be told they were telling stories  about all my crazy relatives which always has me rolling.  Once my Momma got here she just took the story to another level and we spent a good while laughing hysterically and then I spent a while wondering if some of that cookiness may be genetic.  Saturday night was spent jumping up and down in excitement as my beloved Packers gave the smack down to the Falcons!  Next up, The Bears in the NFC Championship game.  My brother is a lifelong Bears fan sooooooo that game should be interesting.  I can't wait!

Sunday we had church, the children marveled at the new and improved Sunday School room, not really, they barely even noticed.  After church we had a luncheon for the Sunday School workers and then we started training in a new program our church is starting.  I'm really excited about it and think it's really going to help grow our church and help grow us all along the way.  After our yummy lunch and training I came home and finished cleaning out my closet while watching, you guessed it football.

Monday was pretty lazy, I did go back to school last Thursday and Monday was my second night back.  On the way to school I picked up my new rolling cart, so when I got home I put my cart together and decorated it.  After all most of the fun of getting a new cart is the decorating.

I owe the success of this project to the dose of Cinnamon Twist and Baja Blast that I picked up on my way home.  And my mother for the love of pink and rhinestones.  And my dad for the philips head screwdriver.

What day is it?

Well, the snow in continues.  Sunday is the last time Blanche got out of the driveway and she is so super bummed about it.  I realized I mentioned Blanche in my last post but never cared to mention who Blanche was.  Just so people don't think I have an octogenarian hanging out in my garage, my car is named Blanche.  Yeah, she's petty awesome.  She's a 1999 big ole Chevy, who just so happens to be gold.  I came by her name pretty easily considering she's a Golden Girl who's been around the block a few times.  She has a flair for all things Southern and rumor has it she will let just about any mechanic under her hood.  Sometimes I go out and find that she has slipped away for a nightcap at the Rusty Rudder.

But all in all Blanche and I share the same feelings about the snow.  It's pretty and all and fun to play in but we just want to go somewhere.  I really want to go shopping or anything.  Also, school has been canceled.  Which at first was a nice break but now, uh, I'm just ready to get out.  Now the major roads are clear but I live down some curvy country roads that rarely see a car so these roads are still very slick.  Couple that will a steep driveway and you have me on the couch in a fetal position rocking like my name was Leo Mazzone and Tom Glavine was down in the count.

This morning i was so stir crazy that I even shoveled my sidewalk.  Now, that is boredom.  So I've decided that tomorrow, er, today I'm going to get dressed, instead of just wearing a tee shirt, leggings and UGGS boots as my wardrobe has been the last few days, and go somewhere!

Then again maybe I'll just drink some choffee and pack for my beach trip in April.  I mean it's only three months away.  What can I say I'm a planner.

Let it snow...ok, now you can go

The weekend started out great.  On Friday night I went out to dinner with my sister, brother in-law and niece, which is always fun.  Then Saturday I spent most of the day doing little things around the house and then just being lazy.  That is until it was time to go over and see a sweet little six year old niece of mine.

We had ourselves a little pizza/movie date while her mommy and daddy went out and had a date of their own.  We watched my favorite Disney movie of all time, Beauty and the Beast and I totally cried at the end.  I mean fireworks and inanimate objects turning into humans and weddings.  Oh, the emotion.

{On a semi-related note when i was little I LOVED Angela Lansbury, pretty much just because her name was Angela and I had never heard of anyone else with my name.}

Then she got her bath, ate a bedtime snack, brushed her teeth and headed off to bed.  But only after I read her three chapters of "Junie B. Jones Dumb Bunny".  We heart that Junie B. Jones.  The only problem is that Kaylee isn't allowed to say dumb, so I kept referring to Junie's freneny May as 'not so smart bunny'.  And then there's the part about aunt Bunny with all the skull tattoos, but that's another post for another day.  I would like to add that all of this happened while simultaneously watching the Seahawks smack the Saints.

Needless to say Jason and Kimberly were more than impressed that she was in bed AND asleep when they got home and also that I had a more in depth recap of the game than Sports Center.  I know, I'm pretty good.

Sunday morning I got up, had my normal Jethro Bodine bowl of Honey Nut Cherrios and then started to get ready for church.  I hopped in Blanche just a few minutes late and she zoomed me down the road.  I really enjoyed teaching my little 1st and 2nd graders in Sunday School and then in the worship service I was really inspired by the message.

We had family lunch and then we settled in to watch the Chiefs and Ravens.  I was rooting for the Chiefs but I really do not care for the AFC anyway.  At 4:30 it was time for the main event.  I cheered as my boys took the field.  Green and gold course through my veins y'all!

I cheered.  I yelled.  I barked.  I may have even almost peed my pantaloons at one time.  But I didn't.  And I definitely made many a comment or fifty-two about how handsome Clay Matthews is.  Or how I would love to brush his hair.

I sat on the edge of my seat and said 'Come on Clay!' or 'Yay, Aaron!' or maybe 'KUHHHHNNNN!' and 'TRAMON!!!'  Tramon, oh Tramon.  I heart you for catching that interception in the end zone, but please for the sake of my cardiovascular health, please, please realize next time that the play is not over and drop to the ground!  Oh, the tears I would have shed if that play had ended differently.

But, Clay's smiling cause WE WON!  Now it's on to Atlanta to pluck some dirty birds!

After the game we quickly became aware that we would soon be in the midst of a winter weather situation, which around here is not normal.  And then early this morning the snow started and is still coming down.  This is the second big snow we have gotten in as many weeks and oh my am I over it!  I mean a day off, where I may or may not sleep until noon, that's awesome, but not being able to get out of my driveway and everything being closed anyway?  UGH!

I'm just hoping that the power and/or cable does not go out tonight.  Because I have to be able to watch the National Championship game tonight!  I am rooting for an Oregon win.  I have never really been an Auburn fan, to say the least, nor am I a Cam Newton fan.  Plus, I have developed a new exercise regime.  I'm going to do the pushups along with Puddles...so hopefully I'll be pretty buff by the end of the night!

Y'all have a great Monday + Go Ducks!  xo

My After Christmas Wish List

I have been compiling a Christmas/Birthday wishlist for a few months now.  Ya know, cause I like to be prepared and all.  Last night I sat down and went through the list and made a new list of things I would like and will mostly likely buy for myself.  I'm thinking maybe one a month.  HA!

I am really a fan of this one.  And yes it is a tote, but with purses bigger is ALWAYS better!  I also really like this tote, but maybe in gold.

I am a sucker for anything zebra, or houndstooth, or quatrefoil, or zigzag.  Plus this one has the cutest hot pink trim and BONUS comes with free embroidery.  I've been known to heart a good monogram as well.  Or really, a bad one too.

Vera and I have long been friends.  Between all the purses I've bought from her, the duffle bag, the miller bag, the cosmetic bags and every other travel bag she could ever bless the world with, I have spent my fair share of dough on VB.  But this one is in the running for being my all time favorite.  My friends Heather and Taylor both have one and I love the Hello Dahlia pattern.  Plus the I know that I would use it every day.  And the sugar pie only cost $15 to begin with but is $9 on sale right now.

I change shampoo like a mad woman but this is my current fav.  I have some seriously thin hair.  Couple that with its lack of motivation to do anything but be stick straight and limp and you have me in a daily nightmare or should it be morningmare of teasing and praying and then teasing some more.  But with this shampoo and its awesome gel conditioner my hair looks and feels oh so good.

I also really like Bed Head's Epic Volume.  It has an awesome strawberry smell and is great for voluminous hair.

5.  New capes/aprons

I am always on the hunt for both chemical aprons and hair cutting aprons.  It can be really tough to find one that is both functional and cute.  That's why there is no link here.  The well is pretty much dry right now.  Plus a couple of my capes met an unfortunate end in the washing machine a few days ago, so I really need some new ones.

6.  TOMS

How cute will these Ash Canvas Toms be this winter with my leggings or jeggings or jeans.  Heck, how cute will they in the spring/summer with shorts or a skirt or a dress!  I'm pretty sure I'll be wearing them to church a few times.  Of course, considering that last summer my church attire pretty much consisted of maxi dresses and my rainbows, the Toms would be a great improvement.  Another selling point is their one for one pledge.  Who doesn't love that idea?!

These Grey Wool Fleck Botas are also really cute and fun!  They just might find themselves on my wish list very soon.

7.  New Roller Set + Perm Rods

This one is pretty self explanitory.  I need rollers for updos and such and perm rods for all the little old ladies.  Ha!

8.  $$$ To Savings

I have been preaching this one to myself for a while now.  Stop buying frivolous things (you know like a Coach purse or super expensive shampoo) and put extra money in savings.

9.  New BlackBerry

Cause as three 6 once said 'Yeah, it's time for a change.'  I'll probably go simple and just get a Curve, or at least that's what I'm thinking right now.

Getting a new phone will also require a cute new case.  For every reason that I love this please refer back to item #2.

This will also require a screen protector because Angela is synonymous with clumsy.

Last but not least...

Love!  Love!  Love!

I hope y'all have a great day!

xo, Angela

hello you, it's me

***I think this post sums me up pretty well, so instead of writing a new post for Kelly's Korner, I'm going to use this one instead.

As my first post I thought I would spend a little time introducing myself.

My name is Angela and I feel I should say I have flirted with the idea of starting a blog for a long time.  Today, having not a thing to do and seeing a pile of white stuff outside my door, I decided that today is the day.

I'm a Carolina girl who comes from a great, big family.  I'm the daughter of a pastor who tries not to be the 'typical preacher's kid'.  I have two sweet nieces and a handsome nephew who I adore.  Three sisters, one brother and two brothers-in-law.  I am currently in cosmetology school, which I go to at night, and although my nights are hectic and my days are sometimes lame I have never been happier in my life.  I spent five years in college only to discover that I would never really be happy until I found a career that I was really willing to do the rest of my life.  Since I was a little girl I have dreamed of being a hair stylist and now I'm kicking myself for not pursuing it fresh out of high school.  But then again, the group of girls that I get to be in class with are amazing and I can't imagine going through school without them.

Also, I am a single girl who is (im)patiently waiting for the right man to come along.

That's all for now, but I'm promising myself that I'll be back tomorrow to post again.
